About this land node

A 2-hectare family-run cultural and eco-lodge that weaves indigenous wisdom (Siwa) with regenerative agroforestry, river stewardship, spiritual ecology and learning exchanges—grounded in the Cabécar–Bribri biocultural landscape.

Overview

Project Vision
Create a thriving demonstration of biocultural regeneration where Indigenous wisdom and regeneration and respect for nature unite.
Project Purpose
To Safeguard rivers and native forests while strengthening women- and youth-led livelihoods revitalizing indigenous cultural heritage and ecological knowledge while restoring rainforest ecosystems and creating sustainable livelihoods through community-driven ecotourism and education.

Ecology & biodiversity

Flora & Fauna
Ceiba, wild cacao, palms, mahogany, orchids; howler and spider monkeys, toucans, peccaries, deer, jaguar, puma, diverse amphibians and reptiles.
Keystone species
Jaguar (apex predator) and Baird’s tapir (seed disperser); wild figs and palms as keystone resources; bats and stingless bees as critical pollinators.
Biodiversity context
Within La Amistad Biosphere Reserve; a global biodiversity hotspot with high endemism.
Ecological corridors
Core part of a corridor connecting La Amistad protected areas to lower elevation Indigenous forests across the CR–PA frontier.
Natural boundaries
Bounded by the Telire River and the forested slopes of the Talamanca Mountains; La Amistad International Park forms a natural border.
